Dear Professor Garey:

In the time that Arthur Thomas has been here, he has acquired a good knowledge
of Artificial Intelligence both as it is done here and as reported in the
literature.  He has worked quite well, gets along well with other members of
the laboratory and is quite reliable.  He has chosen a good topic for his
dissertation and has made some good starts, but it is still too early to say
how good the final result will be.
